Ching Ming Festival, 清明節

Last Saturday and Sunday, I went cleaning my hubby's grandparents and my father-in-law's cemeteries.
I am going to clean my grandparents' cemetery this coming Saturday too.
I am spending three days for Ching Ming this day (also known as Tomb Sweeping Day).

Last Sunday, hubby's three years old nephew joined us to clean his Ah Kong's tomb (my FIL's tomb).
On our way back, he asked why he didn't see Ah Kong at the graveyard?
I find it funny but it is not going to be funny if he tells that he sees Ah Kong there, isn't it?

The festival of the tomb
Of the departed sometimes forgot
About families and friends
Unmovable buried for ages

Once a year
The festivity begins
Cleaning up compounds
Putting colors on the graveyards

Praying and silent wishes
Of the festive air missing the loved ones
Many people many families
Linked in common bondage
Do some good before it is gone

The long queue on weekends
Jamming traffic if graveyards nearby roads
Cars and motorbikes parked as they like
For a few hours the public must bear

Time will change
When land becomes wealth
Even to bury will be cost expensive
Cremation will be the time

Now the festivity begins
Families and extended ones arrive
Bringing food and praying materials
Let them be remembered
As we hope for the better ahead
